In 2009, Trudy came across the benefits of Turmeric, by a respected and well known vet Doug English, after doing online research for a natural supplement, to help her accident prone Horse Cilla. Doug has been helping many people with his knowledge over the years, to help their animals big and small.
So the turmeric journey began. A few short months later, Trudy came across Silica and added it into the diet, with amazing results and noticeable changes. Somehow the two combined, really helped and complimented each other, to the point Trudy's equine Sports Therapist, Noel Cunningham started to notice the mystery issues of Cilla fade, and faded issues in the other accident prone horses.
Noel mentioned to Trudy, that she should get the supplement out there to help others. Few short weeks later Trudy started to get inquiries From Noels clients, expressing their interests on being potential customers. Then word of mouth through friends, before Trudy knew it, she was snowed in with orders and manufacturing began.
Over the years, the Supplement mix has helped many horses. One of those horses was "Brick" and that's where Sharon came into the partnership. Brick who was owned by Sharon, had a big fall down a mud cliff, suffered fatal allergies to Lucerne and proteins. Brick would always break out in hives and expensive vet treatments with antihistamines. Brick was put on the supplement for a few months after Trudy was begging Sharon, to try it for his joints and torn check ligaments. During this time nothing else in his diet changed over the months of the trial, but one week end while Sharon was away he was accidently given some Lucerne by his carer unaware of his allergies, miraculously he had no reaction.
So Trudy decided to bring Sharon into the business to help grow awareness, of what benefits horses could potentially gain, from a natural approach to healing, safe to say Brick was then able to eat Lucerne again and many years of competition. Bricks check ligament healed quickly more than normal, Sharon's vet was very impressed how the fibres healed.
In 2020, Trudy and Sharon were able to expand their product range, with cold pressed Flaxseed oil, to help compliment the turmeric and silica mix further, in regards to anti-inflammatory through the horses overall biomechanics.
Trudy has embarked on studies to further her knowledge in Equine Nutrition and Herbalism, due to having a baby in the meantime she will be a qualified herbalist in Jan 2025.
Horses health is Trudy's passion and she can see an ill unhappy horse just by looking at it, when others think its fine.
Sharon lights up the room wherever she goes, always has people laughing, does a lot of the marketing, sponsorship and repping, a great duo to be on this journey together.
Hope you enjoy your Hipworth Equine Experience.
